Sol Kadhi

Ingredients: 
  • 2 cups fresh coconut milk
  • 5-6 kokum
  • grind cumin
  • 1 green chilly
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves 
  • 1-2 garlic cloves
  • Salt as per taste 


Method: 
  • Blend fresh coconut chunks in the mixer with adquent water. Place these mixture in cotton cloth and squeeze it properly.Repeat the procedure to pour required quantity of coconut milk.
  • Soak kokum in ¼ cup of water for 30-35 minutes so that you will get the essence of kokum. Drain kokum water after half and hour and add it to coconut milk.
  • Mix chopped coriander, chopped green chilly and crshed garlic glove thoroughly. Add Salt as per taste. 
  • keep these mixture aside for 5 min. Finally add it to above coconut milk add sugar if require, Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves . 
  • Your Sol Kadhi is ready  :)

If you are in pursuit of peace and solitude visit Amboli, a peaceful hill station on the Western Ghats, surrounded by thick forests and tree canopied hills. It is located in the Sahyadri Hills of the Western Ghats in South Maharashtra. Situated at an altitude of 690 meter above sea level, The hilltop Amboli gives a fine bird's-eye view of the Konkan coast. 

Amboli has the source of the Hiranyakeshi river, and an ancient Shiva temple (called Hiranya Keshwar). Legend has it that there are 108 Shiva temples in and around Amboli of which only a dozen have been uncovered, 


Amboli is Identified next to Himalaya by Government of India in terms of biodiversity, also has proposal to declare it as world heritage spot.


Colonel Westrop, The British political agent, developed Amboli as a hill station after the opening of the Ghat Road from the coastal town of Vengurla, now in southern Maharashtra, to Belgaum.


Best Viewing point:


Mahadev Gad :- Mahadevgad point located about 3 kms from the bazar is one of the primary view points in Amboli. The Madhavgad Fort built by Sawants. The fort offers sweeping views of the surrounding forest and valleys. The Madhavgad Fort though a huge fort in comparison, currently is in a state of ruins. The fort can be reached only from the northern side and extends some of the best bird’s-eye views of the Konkan coast and also the sunset from this point.


Narayan Gad :- There is also a small temple and a red laterite cave nearby which is a base for exploration by many trekkers. 


Nagatta Fall :- Nagatta Falls offer a perfect picnic place. With a breathtaking view of Nagatta Falls, this is a perfect place to enjoy with your family. Due to heavy monsoon, many waterfalls develop in and around Amboli. One such famous waterfall is the Nagatta Falls which are very popular . Nagatta Fall Situated 10 km from Amboli.


Hiranya Keshi :- The Hiranya Keshi temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Hiranya Keshi is a famous fishing ground where hours could be spent in solitude and quietness.


Best time to visit Amboli is during winter when the hills are covered  with panoramic beauty of gushing waterfalls down the hill



How to Reach


Amboli can be reached easily from Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.


By Train - The nearest rail heads are; Sawantwadi Road - 30 km, Kolhapur - 115 km, Sangli - 140 km, Belgaum - 80 km, and Miraj -150 km


Both Sawantwadi and Belgaum are well connected with all the important rail heads from all parts of the country.


By Bus - There are state transport buses both from Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation that run frequently between Belgaum and Sawantwadi Via Amboli.


By Air - The nearest airport would be the Dabolim Airport,Goa at 60 km or Sambre Airport Belgaum at 70 km.

Notwithstanding the proximity to Goa, Tarkarli still is one of the most popular beaches in southern Konkan. Tarkarli, a 8 km long beach extending from Malvan to Devbagh with silvery white sands and sparkling clean waves is a beach lover's paradise.

With the Karli backwaters on one side and the turquoise blue sea on the other, Tarkarli is the most picturesque destination and is most popular beaches in Maharashtra.

How To Reach :

Sindhudurg and Kudal are the nearest railway stations near Tarkarli (about 30kms away) and is the best way to Travel to Tarkarli. By road Tarkarli is about 35 Kms off the NH 17 from Kasal.
